COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Update - Please Stay Healthy and Safe!

Current world events are affecting all of us and I hope everyone will take the precautions they need in order to get through this tough time as safely as possible. I do want to pass along an update on how this affects my business.

I’m still offering landscape design services but with a different approach. With limited and controlled human contact being important, I can offer virtual services and design based on photos and measurements supplied by clients. If clients are comfortable with personal interaction (at a sizable distance!) on site, I can offer prescription services based on visits where I am only going from my home, to my vehicle, to your landscape and then accommodating my measurements and photography to fulfill gathering information. I then reverse the process to head home. I am on an aggressive lock down at home with safety in mind and would only do personal appointments upon request and planning for safe interactions.

Need a “landscape prescription”?

My name is Mark Dwyer and I want to write you a landscape prescription! Do you have a landscape that could use improvement? Perhaps you just need your plants identified or thoughts on maintenance? Or perhaps you need an entirely new plan for a beautiful and functional landscape? These “landscape prescription” services can involve evaluating an existing landscape, designing a totally new one or even just suggestions on how to utilize and maintain what you already have in place. Your landscape prescription is based on your preferences, needs and goals. I will contribute my extensive background in garden design to ensure you an outdoor living space that you will enjoy.

Creating educational opportunities is also a service that I can provide with lectures, group presentations and workshops representing a wide range of horticultural topics.

Additionally, I write and speak on horticultural topics to educate the interested public on the important relationship between plants, humans and healthy landscapes. A sample of this writing can be found on my blog which can be accessed from this website (click on the button at the top!)

Landscape Prescriptions

Beautiful and functional landscapes combine not only diverse plantings but utilize a design process that considers a multitude of inputs and factors. Landscape recommendations are based on the client’s needs and may relate to form, function, use of the space and level of anticipated maintenance. Perhaps you simply have some landscape questions or are looking for a fresh, experienced perspective. I have had over 25 years of experience guiding clients with suggestions, plant ideas, design advice and much more. These “landscape prescriptions” are all very unique and are done in an interactive way. The degree of support and detail in terms of the landscape prescription is determined by the client! Presentations & Workshops

I have given both formal and informal presentations to many groups over the years on a wide range of subjects. Groups have included professionals, gardeners, non-gardeners and anyone interested in horticulture-related themes. I also have been involved with educating children and have experience with wellness garden design and healthcare related use of plants. Aside from over 80 topics that I currently present (plants, design, wellness, etc.), I also prepare custom workshops, activities, training and other consultation services upon request. I also am active in writing on a wide range of topics for various publications and venues. Wellness & Therapy

I enjoy working on projects that help allow not only access to plants and horticulture but developing organized activities and programs related to the engagement of plants. I have been involved with the design of three healing/wellness gardens and am a strong advocate for creating and modifying the garden for engagement, education and therapy. A heavy focus on the sensory experience and using the garden to create interactions with plants that fulfills a program goal or output is paramount as it relates to proper plant selection, design and accessibility. I also have developed a very strong interest in healthcare campus evaluation and landscape development for accessibility, maximizing immersion, therapeutic use, enjoyment and wellness in these settings for patients, staff and visitors alike.
